Pumpkin Spice Girls

There may be a chill in the air, but a warming trend is here. As we cozy up to cashmere sweaters and ubiquitous pumpkin spice lattes (you know you love them), we’re also craving gems in autumn’s signature hues. It’s a blazing spectrum that evokes the turning of leaves and the supremely hygge vibes of everyone’s favorite blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.

And here’s a bit of autumn trivia for you: There’s a reason the flavors that make up pumpkin pie spice are called “warming spices.” Each one contains compounds purported to raise body temperature, boost circulation, and help us relax. (No wonder we feel all warm and fuzzy after a big Thanksgiving meal!) While we can’t promise the same health benefits from the jewels below, they certainly are a feast for the eyes.

Goldstone

Actually neither gold nor stone, “goldstone” is gorgeously glittery glass. It was first produced in 17th century Venice and contains light-catching crystals of copper. Austin-based designer Kendra Scott lets it take center stage as the star of her signature-shaped earrings.

Tanzanite + Andalusite

Designer Nak Armstrong finds inspiration for his jewelry in unlikely places—like the art of origami, or ruched and pleated fabric. In fact, it led him to developing his own setting method called “stone plissé,” which creates a distinctive rippling effect. Just as unexpected: his choice of using undersung gems, such as the moody autumnal hues of the tanzanite and andalusite incorporated into this ring.

Orange Opal

Melissa Spalten’s eponymous line draws inspiration from her hometown of San Antonio and her love of vibrant color, which comes through vividly in these one-of-a-kind orange opal earrings that dance like flames in the light.
