A new ring trend is bubbling up

Jewelry can often skew serious, marking momentous occasions or intended to be handed down as an heirloom. While polished silver and stately gold will always have a place in our hearts—and jewelry boxes—the latest trend popping up feels as refreshing as a fizzy drink. Bubble rings are back, bursting with ‘90’s nostalgia and lighthearted fun. A child of that era, I had fingerfulls of the acrylic originals, collected with babysitting money from kiosks at the mall, or from a lucky quarter dropped into gumball-style vending machines. These grown-up, modern versions will run you more than 25 cents, but the combination of quality materials and playful design will bring a smile to both adult-you and your inner child.

Golden Apex

Co-founders Gina and Steven Feldman came up with the name Auvere (“True Gold”) via an alchemistic combination of the elemental symbol for gold, AU, and the Latin word “vere,” which means “true.” They create pieces with similarly alchemistic allure, spinning high-karat gold into high fashion jewelry, like this dramatically-domed ring.

Island Vibes

Barcelona-based La Manso has a cult following on Instagram (and IRL amongst celebs like Bella Hadid and Dua Lipa) thanks to founder Adriana Manso’s distinctive aesthetic. Referencing her grandmother’s jewelry and vintage pieces discovered across Spain, Manso creates covetable collectibles like this ring set, inspired by the waters around the Mediterranean island of Formentera.

Based in Milan, the Ti Sento atelier prides themselves on being the gold standard of silver jewelry—using goldsmithing techniques and handwork to create their undeniably pretty pieces. This ring, crafted from rose gold plated on 925 Sterling silver, is no exception.

Emily P. Wheeler’s “Chubby” rings have been a signature of her design since she started her sustainable, LA-based brand. Each ring is a one-of-a-kind combination of precious metals and gemstones—autumn tourmaline, pink sapphire and ebony make for a seriously sophisticated take on the trend.
