Tough love

Leather bracelets date back to the 18th century when they were first popular with men. Times change but style remains, and many archetypes, from hippie to rock star, have since embraced them. Leather bracelets have become universally alluring in varying leather types (lizard to crocodile), colors (jewels to pastels), and metal details (stainless steel to yellow-gold). Now on offer by designers in bold fashion houses and independents, they’re forever cool, especially come fall.

Code Leather

The duo behind James Banks Design creates collections handmade in Marin County, CA, with old-world techniques mixed with modern sustainability (i.e., recycled materials). Their Code Collection comprises varying pieces with squared “code” details and combination locks, including this double strap number.

Coil Cuff

Bottega Veneta designer Daniel Lee has a cult following for his modern runway collections, but his accessories are what really have the fashion crowds clamoring for more. This simple yet edgy coil cuff is an excellent example of a covetable piece that can work with many looks.

Solar Braided

Designer John Atencio majored in business, but his direction shifted after taking a jewelry-making class and creating an engagement ring. He eventually made an eponymous brand of keepsake-worthy jewels. His Solar Collection is full of meaning with “hallmark circles, triangles, and lines to each design, symbolizing the struggles that we face in balancing family, relationships, and communication.”

BB Plaque

Logomania isn’t new, and Balenciaga creates on-trend pieces with its (subtle) signature BB logo. Their accessories celebrate the trend while adding vintage character to your look.

Petrol

Designer Ole Lynggaard established his brand in 1963 after years of traveling the world and studying jewelry design and techniques. The Denmark brand centers on fauna and sculptural pieces with complementary designs like this wrap leather bracelet that displays their signature “sweet drops” charms.

You can’t talk about leather bracelets without mentioning Hermès. The French fashion house known for luxurious accessories touts some of the finest leather around. This classic double wrap bracelet is a lovely start to one’s leather bracelets collection (or obsession).
