Iridescent stones + three days = magic

Moonstones are a stone of new beginnings that promote intuition (I gifted them to guests at my wedding). They look similar to opals but range from transparent to opaque in colors that project adularescence—metallic iridescence that reflect light. This reflection resembles the moon, waxing and waning, reminding us that everything is a cycle of change.

My Earth Day tip inspired by moonstones is to help protect the oceans from plastic that harms marine life and ecosystems. Next time you’re at the beach (or anywhere, really) and see plastic packaging or debris in the sand, pick it up and dispose of it properly. It’s such a simple task and the tides and the moon will thank you. On the subject of plastic, there’s no better time than now to adopt more plastic-reduction habits.

Got your crystal-charged glass water bottle? Now let’s dive into these moonstone delights.

Lavender Moonstone

Alice Cicolini’s handmade jewelry is made in India and inspired by the “sacred architecture and patterns of the Silk Route.” Some know her saturated enamel designs created by Jaipuri meenakari trained craftsmen, but her Memphis Bubble collection includes pieces without enamel, like these ethereal lavender moonstone and pave diamond danglers.

Palm Paradise

Misa Jewelry’s organic wax casting pieces can be found at Jersey City’s Love Locked offering one-of-a-kind jewelry with a handcrafted aesthetic. Our iridescent pick is this mixed stone ring with an opal center accented with rainbow moonstones and opals.

Bubble

NYC-based Mark Henry Jewelry is run by Mois Medine and designed by his wife, Laura Medine. While they specialize in natural alexandrite—the rarest gemstone on earth—it’s Laura’s mood-lifting moonstone pieces that will surely catch your eye.

Offsides

Nicole Landaw’s aesthetic is hard to define; some of her designs are streamlined, others are unexpected. But they all have a certain allure, like this enchanting moonstone ring with its updated off-kilter setting.

Blue Moonstone

The amulet was one of Temple St. Clair’s first pieces and is a staple the namesake house continues to update with vast collections. This amulet is an ode to blue with turquoise and blue moonstone that are both said to have healing powers.

18k gold, turquoise, and blue moonstone “Stella Amulet,” $2,250 at Temple St Clair
