Family-owned jewelers paving the way for responsibly-sourced diamonds in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Steve Padis began his career while attending the University of California, Berkeley, stringing beads onto necklaces and selling them on Telegraph Avenue. Around the time he graduated in the early ‘70s, he met his future wife, Judy, and ventured into sterling silver, turquoise jewelry, and gold chain.
In 1974, Steve propelled his passion for precious metals and diamonds with the inception of the Steve Padis Jewelry brand.

Specializing in loose certified diamonds, engagement rings, and fine jewelry, Steve’s business has grown to include three showrooms in San Francisco with a fourth location in St. Helena, CA. In 2019, they partnered with Forevermark to open a free-standing Forevermark boutique in Walnut Creek. Today, Padis Jewelry is a well-respected business operated by Steve and Judy, and their daughter, Alexis.

Steve and Judy are proprietors of Padis Vineyards in Napa Valley. After years of collecting wine, the couple purchased their property in the Oak Knoll region in 2004, built caves, and developed 15 acres. Through their partnership with winemaker Robert Foley, they produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and varietals unique to the region.

Padis Jewelry owns its entire stock of certified responsibly-sourced diamonds, all of which have been hand-selected by Steve. They always have at least 10,000 conflict-free diamonds in stock, and their inventory is on display with prices clearly marked. Their diamonds come with an independent grading report from US-based labs, including the GIA, AGS, and Forevermark.

The Padis Jewelry staff are non-commissioned diamond experts. Padis Jewelry has two GIA Graduate Gemologists on staff at all times, and is an accredited member of the American Gem Society (AGS)—only 5% of jewelers in the country have this status.

Forevermark is the industry leader for responsibly-sourced stones with established business, social, and environmental benchmarks that must be achieved by their mining sources. They work with independent retailers to sell their diamonds. In 2019, Forevermark teamed up with Padis for its first retail partnership and opened a free-standing boutique in Walnut Creek.
