Family comes first at Illinois' budget-friendly jewelry store.

In 1939, Earl and Orville Jones founded Jones Bros. Jewelers in Pekin, Illinois.

A different pair of brothers, Baird and Bennett, purchased the store from the Jones brothers in 1978 and kept the namesake. From the Jones family to the Woolsey family, from Pekin to Peoria, the independent jewelry store has always honored the service-oriented spirit of a family-owned business.

It was Bennett Woolsey’s wife, Betty, who led the company into modern times when she left her counseling career to take over Jones Bros. in the ‘90s after Bennett’s death. Because of Betty’s forward-thinking, they were able to keep up with an evolving jewelry industry while making sure every customer found a special piece of jewelry within their budget. Around this time Betty’s son, Bob, became the store’s owner. Since then, the jewelry store has worked hard to offer beautiful jewelry at budget-friendly prices.

Back in Earl and Orville’s day, people would stop to look in the window of the jewelry store when it was in Pekin.

If someone saw something they liked, one of the brothers would come out to the sidewalk and say, “Well, if you like it, why don’t you take it home and wear it? If you want to keep it, give us a call, and we’ll send you a bill.” Jones Bros. Jewelers were in the business of trusting and sharing—and they still are.

Every guy is capable of doing the perfect proposal. He just has to figure out what’s special to her, something special to him, and a space and place that they share.”

Bob is a “Proposal Guru.”

He wrote, Propose Like a Man, a downloadable guide to educate men about how to deliver a perfect proposal. Bob believes, “the perfect proposal is truly unique to the individual and the individual couple involved.”

Bob’s proposal was thrown a curveball during a ski trip in Vail, CO when he was planning on proposing to his girlfriend, and she injured her knee. He embraced the challenge and was still able to make the moment special despite his wife-to-be being on crutches when she said yes.
